Scholarships

BellinghamART does its best to help anyone interested attend art classes. We do this by working with our community partners Blue Skies for Children, and Skookum Kids - helping to bring students in the door who would otherwise not be able to attend class. We also offer 2 children’s scholarships, & 2 adult work-trade scholarships each session.

Our next round of scholarships are for class in Winter Session - running the weeks of January 13 through March 21. Applications are due by November 6th.

Scholarship Details (please read before applying):

  • All scholarships are open until the next sessions registration starts. Just before our next sessions registration starts we will choose our scholarship recipients, and contact all applicants by email to let them know the news. Scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate a clear interest in art, students who are committed to attending the entire session, and to students who have a clear need for the assistance. Adult scholarships will also be based on the ability to commit to volunteer hours for the session. Just because you previously were given a scholarship does not guarentee you one for the next session.

  • Adult scholarships come with strings attached. Adults who receive scholarships must commit to 10 hours of volunteer work throughout the session. Volunteer work consists of studio work such as cleaning, caring for supplies, prepping materials, organizing our space, etc. We also can always use help with special skills like social media, photography, copywriting, etc. If you have something unique to offer there is a spot to let us know on the application. Adult scholarship recipients who do not complete the 10 hours of volunteer work, will not be eligible for future scholarships.

  • All scholarship recipients must commit to attending the entire session (the occasional absence for illness, travel, etc. is of course okay).
